Undefeated Egyptian Hany Atiyo impressively won the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ All-Africa Light Heavyweight title on Thursday night in Kafr El Sheik, Egypt, when he stopped countryman Adel Faragaly in five rounds.

This was a rematch of a very entertaining fight in 2010atiyo1 where Atiyo won a decision over Faragaly in Cairo, and Atiyo improved his record to 6-0 (4). The fight was promoted by Louaa Boxing and Richard Nwoba.

This time around there would also be plenty of excitement, but more so because Atiyo put on a spectacular performance and thoroughly proved to be the better fighter.

After a fairly even first round the 27-year-old, fighting in front of a home crowd, got busy in round two and twice floored Faragaly with punishing blows.

Faragaly proved game and made it through the second round, only to hit the canvas again in the third. In round four it was more of the same, with Atiyo hunting his opponent down, and scoring the fourth knockdown of the fight. Faragaly again made it to his feet and through the round, but it was clear that he was close to the end of the line.

In the intermission between round four and five, Faragaly’s trainer felt enough was enough, and signaled to referee Sabir Awad that his boxer was done. Atiyo lifted his first professional title and could enjoy the adulation if the crowd.

Official time 00:01 of round five. Judges were Hassan Mostafa, Mohamed Zaki and Hany Hassan
